The texture of marble tiles is ever-changing, interpreting both the beauty of luxury and the freshness of simplicity with great finesse.

Although each marble's texture is unique, its forms can still be categorized—veins (linear), cracks, cluster flow, ice flower-like, flowing water, etc.

Matching styles based on the characteristics of the texture brings out the utmost beauty of marble.

Marble tiles, possessing the charm of natural stone and stable physical properties, have become one of the mainstream home building materials.

Marble Texture and Decorative Effects

01. Straight Veins

Representative Textures: French Wood Grain Grey, Italian Wood Grain, Blue Golden Sand, etc.

Italian wood grain presents itself in a typical linear posture, with varying hues giving distinct feelings—warmth in beige tones and a stylish elegance in wood grain.

Marble textures come in various forms, and straight veins are perhaps the most simple and casual.

The pronounced directional straight veins flow smoothly and naturally, enhancing the spatial depth when applied in large areas.

Straight line textures add a three-dimensional feel to the space, and changing the direction of the texture during installation creates more personalized combination effects.

Irregularly extending and expanding linear textures, from thick to thin, resemble the traces of a cracked brick surface.

Different thicknesses and densities of cracks bring about distinctly different decorative styles.

04. Mesh-like Linear Texture

Representative Textures: Rainforest Brown, Rainforest Green, Sofitel Gold, etc.

For example, the elegant and noble Sofitel Gold texture is fine yet maintains a good sense of direction. It is unrestrained and has distinct layers, creating a dynamic and beautiful space.

The interwoven texture is dense, with obvious undulations, resembling spreading roots or cracked rocks. The unrestrained expansion of the texture gives a sense of magnificence. Due to the dense texture, it is more suitable for small area installation or combination installation with other tiles.

Methods and Considerations for Marble Cutting

When it comes to marble, how to cut it is also a science. Sometimes, in order to showcase its perfect effect, we need to cut tiles strictly according to the relevant dimensions.

However, tile cutting is a technical task. Not only does it need to be cut accurately, but the cut edges also need to be smooth enough.

So, what is the standard method for tile cutting? What issues should be paid attention to during the cutting process?

I. Standard Cutting Method for Tiles

  1. First, prepare the tools for cutting tiles, such as a polishing machine and a laser knife. In general, a manual cutting machine is often chosen during the decoration process.
  2. Next, position the tile, select a moving ruler, move the ruler to choose the desired cutting size, and then determine the cutting size. Hold the handle of the cutting machine with one hand, pull the blade towards the back, place the tile flat on the baseboard, and align the cutting line with the baseboard.
  3. Then draw a line. Push the handle forward, allowing the blade to cut a continuous and symmetrical line on the tile surface.
  4. Press down, lift the handle slightly, place it steadily at the front end of the tile, and press down with appropriate force. The tile will break along the cutting line, completing the cutting process.

II. Why Tiles Drop or Crack During Cutting

Some workers may encounter issues such as tile dropping or cracking during operation. The main reason is that tiles inherently have high hardness, and choosing unsuitable tools or improper operation can lead to these problems.

Therefore, it's essential to choose a dedicated electric cutting machine or use manual methods. Draw a cutting line on the back of the tile, then flip it over, place the line on a hard surface, and break the tile by applying force to both ends.

III. Considerations for Cutting Tiles

  1. Draw lines evenly and continuously from one end to the other on the surface of the tile to prepare for later cutting.
  2. Avoid applying excessive force during cutting to prevent jagged edges and potential damage to the cutting machine, extending its lifespan.
  3. When encountering wires or supports for sanitary equipment during operation, always use whole tiles to fit and cut, never piecing together.
  4. After 1 hour of tile construction completion, promptly remove any stains remaining on the tile surface. For example, grout is challenging to clean after adhering for 4 hours. Check the tiles 12 hours after construction; if hollowing is detected, it should be promptly re-laid!
